The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institue Gala will be a celebration of Alexander McQueen’s iconic designs in  Spring 2011 Costume Institute Retrospective at Metropolitan Museum.  With Honorary Chairs François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, and Co-Chairs Colin Firth, Stella McCartney, and Anna Wintour, this is the most exciting fashion event of the year.   “Alexander McQueen’s iconic designs constitute the work of an artist whose medium of expression was fashion” said Thomas P. Campbell, Director of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  What to wear to this elegant spectacle of art and fashion?   Alexander McQueen of course!  We choose this stunning silk chiffon strapless from Net-a-Porter and all of the appropriate accessories for this magnificently appointed event.

The exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute, will celebrate the late Alexander McQueen’s extraordinary contributions to fashion. From his postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final runway presentation which took place after his death in February 2010, Mr. McQueen challenged and expanded the understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity. His iconic designs constitute the work of an artist whose medium of expression was fashion.  The exhibition is made possible by Alexander McQueen™.  Additional support is provided in partnership with American Express and Condé Nast.
