Maternity and New Mom: Eco-Friendly Baby

Posted By: KK on 04/6/10 4:18 AM | Categories: Maternity and New Mom

Having children in today's world can be a nerve-racking experience with
the seemingly ever-expanding lists of health and environmental concerns.
Here I have selected some of my favorite organic and ecofriendly baby
products. While my daughter was still a newborn, I loved snuggling her
in an oh-so cozy organic Moby wrap. Not only was it comfortable, but it
was also very chic underneath a jacket for a walk in the park.

This spring is the perfect time to team white and navy for a
sophiscated look. Cropped jeans with striped tops are great picks for
clean and comfortable dressing. I love this bolero from Topshop

flair to your every day wear.

Maternity and New Mom: Spring Break Wear

Posted By: KK on 03/10/10 6:20 AM | Categories: Maternity and New Mom

Spring break is my favorite time of year. For all of you heading south
for some sun, I have chosen my favorite maternity looks. Bikinis (or
tankinis) with shorts and cute tops for the day and kaftans and dresses
for the evening are great choices for spending quality time with your
loved ones and catching up on some much needed rest from the hustle and
bustle of the city. While you are lounging poolside, mocktail in hand,
be sure to check out Hands Off My Belly, a very refreshing take on
calming pregnancy fears.

With temperatures climbing up to the midforties this week,
it is almost time to put away our coats and break out the flip flops. With
spring creeping up, this week is a great time to inject some bright color into
our wardrobes. I have chosen a winter-spring transitional outfit complete with
the white jeans that we have all been waiting to wear this year.

Maternity and New Mom: Maternity Work Wear

Maternity work wear is all about clever mixing and
matching. Invest in comfortable pants and shoes while focusing on your
neck line for a polished look. A crisp white shirt with a cardigan is
always a great choice. I love this Isabelle Oliver tie front blouse.
The detail makes this look both contemporary and sharp.

Maternity and New Mom: Maternity Work Outs

While pregnant you can keep up with the normal level of your physical activity just as long as you have the OK from your OB! Pregnancy can also be a great opportunity to begin a fitness regime that suits your schedule. Try walking for thirty minutes a day at a brisk, but comfortable pace, or pop in an exercise DVD and tone your arms using light weights. You will
feel yourself becoming stronger and more energized. Yoga balls also work
wonders and don't forget about those Kegel exercises!

Maternity and New Mom: Babymoon and Romantic Weekends

Posted By: KK on 02/3/10 5:56 AM | Categories: Maternity and New Mom

Zoe:  With Valentines Day just around the corner, my mind turns to all of you “babymooners” out there who can take advantage of the long President’s Day weekend to spend some quality time with your husband before baby makes three.  Here are two day and night looks that will work wonders.

For cozy days, I suggest stretchy and slimming black pants with a comfy cardigan and a bit of a ruched tank showing for all of you romantics.  How about an afternoon by the fire with a good steamy novel to get you in the mood?

Isabella Oliver Portrait Top ($97.75), A Pea in the Pod Ponte Slim Maternity Pants ($129.99), Kate Spade Sparkle Stud Earrings ($45), Michele 'Rays' Aviator Sunglasses ($128), "Lady Chatterly's Lover" by D. H. Lawrence ($5.99), Isabella Oliver Shawl Wrap Cardigan ($160.65), Marc Jacobs 'Baby Aidan' Satchel ($398)

For romantic nights, I think that a bit of color
would do the trick. I love this Isabella Oliver wrap dress. Wear it
with opaques (or without) and black heels – and don't forget to pack your pretty undies!

It is only appropriate that my presidential
accessories channel Michelle Obama. Lipstick and earrings are age old mommy
trick for brightening up your face.

Maternity and New Mom: Top 10 Maternity Picks

Posted By: KK on 01/27/10 3:01 AM | Categories: Maternity and New Mom

Welcome to Zoe Mama our new Maternity and New Mommy blog. Our in-the-know editor and new mom, Zoe will be sharing her tips and picks for every aspect of pregancy and life with baby.  Here are Zoe's  10 “must haves” to get you started.

Zoe: Pregnancy is a wonderful time and exciting time, so flaunt your curves and show off that growing baby bump. People compliment your glowing skin and gorgeous flowing hair…I have chosen my top ten, absolute “go-to” pieces for those days that you are not quite feeling like a life-giving goddess!

I've culled this collection from my own maternal shopping experiences, wading through a jungle of belly bands, sleeping bras and brightly colored “Boppy’s.” I had to remind myself that dressing well while expecting is very similar to dressing well through all of life’s other events. It’s all about the basics – invest in some good key pieces and use less expensive lines to add a bit of trend and flair to your wardrobe. Looking good is feeling good!

Maternity wear is all about versatility.  Over the belly or under the belly, a great pair of maternity denim jeans or leggings with a fitted top are a great choice for casual affairs.

1. 2.

J Brand Straight Leg Jeans ($187)                              Secret Fit Belly Maternit Leggings ($87)

Tunics have gone from fashion statements to maternity staples. For cozy sweaters and layering pieces, these are great options, or raid your husband’s closet!  Remember, as your belly expands, longer pieces will serve you best.

3.   4.

Ingrid & Isabelle Maternity Tank ($48)                     Blossom Mother & Child Cotton Inge Shirt ($136)

5. 6.

Michael Stars Maternity Cap Sleeve Tunic ($56)                 Crumpet Cashmere Cardigan ($284)

For evenings out, think low cut and flowing, accenting
your belly, a la Angelina Jolie.

7.   8.

Isabella Oliver Satin Bow Dress ($182.75)                           Isabella Oliver the Reversible Essential ($167.60)

A great print dress willl be your "go-to" outfit. Choose one you love, because you will wear it over and over. Get one size larger to go the distance. Comfortable flats like these Tory's are a must.

9.   10.

Liz Lange for Target Floral Print Maternity Dress ($24.99)                    Tory Burch Reva Flats ($195)
