We asked our friend and designer Jennifer Creel to explain how she became an activist in protecting the environment:

I have learned from several environmentally active friends how to make important changes to my lifestyle.  Amanda Hearst writes a monthly article for Marie-Claire Magazine devoted to environmentally friendly fashion and lifestyle and is on the board of Riverkeeper.  Annie Churchill Albert is invovled with the NRDC and the Riverkeeper Junior Council.  She is a model of living with an awareness of the world around her.  Ulla Parker lives a green lifestyle and supports many organizations like Oceana, NRDC and Conservation InternationalShelly Malkin heads development for NRDC and is an incredible artist.  She currently is showing her work at the Greenwich Audubon Center.  Libby Fitgerald runs Greyledge Farms a sustainable source of grass fed meat and poutlry.   I believe these women and the changes they represent contribute to a much healthier environment for me and my children.   In business, I am a fashion designer of Modo for Jennifer Creel sunglasses. The collection is made of natural materials such as bamboo and leather. In addition, Modo is
planting a tree with every purchase
through the philanthropic organization  "Trees for the Future!"
