What to Wear: Gladiator Sandals
Posted By: KK on 05/21/09 6:13 AM | Categories: What to Wear
KK: I am not a big fan of the Gladiator look, especially with dresses, they make your legs look chopped off. My advice is don’t spend a lot of money on the look. Here are some that you can have some fun with.
KORS Michael Kors Dareh Gold Gladiator Sandal, $168 (was $240)
Juicy Couture Lacie Sandal at Zappos, $193 (was $242)
GEORGIANA: My take on the glads is that they’re quite intense, particularly the ones with straps and buckles and bits of fabric galore that extend beyond the ankle. If you’re Elle Mcpherson, fine, but you certainly should have the legs for them. Don’t get me wrong, I love strappy sandals but not when they look like they’re missing pieces of a medieval experiment. Suppose I’m more of a simple sandal girl!
Sergio Rossi Thalie Open Strappy Pump at ShopBop, $623 (was $890)
Gwyneth Zen Sandal at The Shoe Box, $79
LARA: In order to pull off the Gladiator trend, one has to start off with great legs or someone might mistake you for Maximus aka Russel Crowe in the film “Gladiator”. On the other hand, Connie Nielson rocked the Roman look. Why not find inspiration in her look with not too fussy metallics, which will go with any color you drape on this summer.
Manolo Blahnik Ramola Gold Sandal, $685
Sigerson Morrison Metallic Flat Sandal, $168 (was $240)
What to Wear: Memorial Day Weekend in Martha's Vineyard
Posted By: KK on 05/19/09 8:08 AM | Categories: What to Wear
Taking off to the Vineyard, Nantucket or Newport for Memorial Day Weekend? Weather can be very brisk in New England at this time of year, and having just checked, it looks like you could be in for a chilly time! We like our daywear to revolve around jeans, polo shirts, cashmere sweaters and loafers or flats, while tunics, well-cut pants and warm wraps are fantastic at night. Don’t forget a windbreaker for walks on the beach. Love the way this crisp navy and white palette looks – it can take you from day to night and makes packing so simple!

What to Wear: Graduation Style!
Posted By: KK on 05/12/09 1:32 AM | Categories: What to Wear
Graduations are just around the corner, so of course, we've been inundated with requests for great outfit suggestions. Here's one we love – the crispness of the black and white print goes well with anything! Remember to check the weather and plan accordingly. But no matter the location, bring a wrap or cardigan for breezy shady spots, sunglasses, and a hat to protect you from the sun. Flat sandals or wedges are easy to maneuver in, particularly in grass, and a roomy handbag is essential to fit camera, water, and program.

What to Wear: The Met Ball 2009
Posted By: KK on 05/6/09 4:44 AM | Categories: What to Wear
KK: To me the quad, seen on www.fashionologie.com of Kate Hudson, Stella McCartney, Liv Tyler and Kate Bosworth, all in Stella’s Designs had an ageless appeal. Kate B. was in the demure tulle sleeved black, that while smashing on her, would also flatter women “of a certain age." Ditto luscious Liv in midnight, and Kate H, was every gorgeous inch the glam star in her column of gold, a look that would be sensational on the toned set, and Stella's ensemble was for those who wanted to take it out there a bit but still look stunning.

LG: My most favorite look of the Met Ball, "Model As Muse", was the ever chic Daphne Guinness in claret colored Oscar de la Renta. The brooches climbing up her asymmetrical neckline put a modern touch to a classically draped, yet ever cinching design. Nothing says MUSE more than toteing Oscar de la Renta on your arm. My other shout out goes to Bee Shaffer wafting in lapis colored Nina Ricci- you looked absolutely STUNNING BEE!

GB: As one of the most exciting fashion events of the year, couldn’t wait to see what the trends were – ruffles, geometric shapes, sparkle and lots of leg! Of my favorite styles was the ever-captivating Queen Bee Kate Moss – a thoroughly polished look from head to toe, perfect for her role in the evening’s festivities. Adored the glorious red of Lou Doillon’s ‘Queen of Hearts-esque’ Nina Ricci dress, and the elegant simplicity of Karolina Kurkova’s Richard Chai black mini combined with layers and layers of sparkling accessories.
