Project Green Chic: Modo for Jennifer Creel
Posted By: KK on 04/29/10 7:53 AM | Categories: Project Green Chic
We asked our friend and designer Jennifer Creel to explain how she became an activist in protecting the environment:
I have learned from several environmentally active friends how to make important changes to my lifestyle. Amanda Hearst writes a monthly article for Marie-Claire Magazine devoted to environmentally friendly fashion and lifestyle and is on the board of Riverkeeper. Annie Churchill Albert is invovled with the NRDC and the Riverkeeper Junior Council. She is a model of living with an awareness of the world around her. Ulla Parker lives a green lifestyle and supports many organizations like Oceana, NRDC and Conservation International. Shelly Malkin heads development for NRDC and is an incredible artist. She currently is showing her work at the Greenwich Audubon Center. Libby Fitgerald runs Greyledge Farms a sustainable source of grass fed meat and poutlry. I believe these women and the changes they represent contribute to a much healthier environment for me and my children. In business, I am a fashion designer of Modo for Jennifer Creel sunglasses. The collection is made of natural materials such as bamboo and leather. In addition, Modo is
planting a tree with every purchase through the philanthropic organization "Trees for the Future!"

Curated in close cooperation with Pierre Berge, YSL's longtime partner in life as well as in business, the exhibit highlights 300 timeless and astounding creations from YSL. Posted By: KK on 04/26/10 7:15 AM | Categories: What to Wear
Doug %20 Mike Starn on the Roof: Big Bambu opens on April 27 at the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden at the Metropolitan Museum. The twin brothers were invited to create a site-specific installation, which will eventually measure to about 100 feet long, 50 feet wide, and 50 feet high. Vistors will witness the continuing creation as the artists and a group of rock climbers contruct this creation through out the spring, summer and fall as the exhibition will on view till October 31, 2010.

Gallery in Aspen. We chose this floral and fashionably conscious Stella
McCartney dress to go with the natural bamboo edifice along with earthy-toned
accessories. We added a pair of rubber-soled DVF ballet flats
to the mix as visitors are encouraged to walk amongst the performance
sculpture and heels would be a little daunting.

Heading to Paris this spring? Take a peek at our Paris-worthy morning to night look. When traveling, it helps to pick a palette while packing, making mix-and-matching that much easier. This season we are MAD about minamalist nudes and created an ensemble incorporating this trend. This Malene Birger sweater dress can take you from food shopping on the rue de Buci to checking out the lastest fashions at the high end department store the Bon Marche. Create multiple guises simply by adding an Hermes scarf or cinching it with this fab DVF belt. Totes are a must when trotting about Paris, as you never know when you might spot a freshly baked baguette to pair with a perfectly ripe Camembert… This woven Anya Hindmarch "Wine" tote is ideal for groceries and can easily fit in a suitcase or you can create a timeless statement with this forever-chic YSL shopping bag. The climate in Paris during early spring can be brisk which is why we topped off this outfit with a classic A.P.C. trench. Bon voyage and happy shopping!

Elizabeth Farran Tozer, Zibby to her friends, is being honored at the Museum of the City of New York's Spring Lecture and Luncheon on April 26. Zib is one of those gals who does it all and makes it look easy. The Museum is recognizing her civic leadership and stewardship of the luncheon for over 20 years. On the program is Iris Apfel, one of the most celebrated personalities in the worlds of fashion, textiles, adn interior design, and Perter Pennoyer, principal of the eponymous firm with a national practice in classical and traditional architecture.
Our Style Editor, Hilary Dick, has fashioned a fantastically classic ensemble with this perfect Caroline Herrera faille sheath and creates a statement with Oscar de la Renta's gorgeous gold and shell necklace. This look is so flattering and feminine for every age and body type and it will hold its value by becoming a "go to" look for spring and summer. Zibby will be a "stand out" in it and then again, she always is. For information, visit the Museum of the City of New York.
