Maternity and New Mom: Top 10 Maternity Picks

Posted By: KK on 01/27/10 3:01 AM | Categories: Maternity and New Mom

Welcome to Zoe Mama our new Maternity and New Mommy blog. Our in-the-know editor and new mom, Zoe will be sharing her tips and picks for every aspect of pregancy and life with baby.  Here are Zoe's  10 “must haves” to get you started.

Zoe: Pregnancy is a wonderful time and exciting time, so flaunt your curves and show off that growing baby bump. People compliment your glowing skin and gorgeous flowing hair…I have chosen my top ten, absolute “go-to” pieces for those days that you are not quite feeling like a life-giving goddess!

I've culled this collection from my own maternal shopping experiences, wading through a jungle of belly bands, sleeping bras and brightly colored “Boppy’s.” I had to remind myself that dressing well while expecting is very similar to dressing well through all of life’s other events. It’s all about the basics – invest in some good key pieces and use less expensive lines to add a bit of trend and flair to your wardrobe. Looking good is feeling good!

Maternity wear is all about versatility.  Over the belly or under the belly, a great pair of maternity denim jeans or leggings with a fitted top are a great choice for casual affairs.

1. 2.

J Brand Straight Leg Jeans ($187)                              Secret Fit Belly Maternit Leggings ($87)

Tunics have gone from fashion statements to maternity staples. For cozy sweaters and layering pieces, these are great options, or raid your husband’s closet!  Remember, as your belly expands, longer pieces will serve you best.

3.   4.

Ingrid & Isabelle Maternity Tank ($48)                     Blossom Mother & Child Cotton Inge Shirt ($136)

5. 6.

Michael Stars Maternity Cap Sleeve Tunic ($56)                 Crumpet Cashmere Cardigan ($284)

For evenings out, think low cut and flowing, accenting
your belly, a la Angelina Jolie.

7.   8.

Isabella Oliver Satin Bow Dress ($182.75)                           Isabella Oliver the Reversible Essential ($167.60)

A great print dress willl be your "go-to" outfit. Choose one you love, because you will wear it over and over. Get one size larger to go the distance. Comfortable flats like these Tory's are a must.

9.   10.

Liz Lange for Target Floral Print Maternity Dress ($24.99)                    Tory Burch Reva Flats ($195)

What to Wear: Thursday Night Out

Posted By: KK on 01/21/10 3:55 AM | Categories: What to Wear

W2WW is heading out to various spots for a swingin' night out on the town.   Ranger's game, the opera or dancing!  We've combined our favorite looks for each night out!

KK:  Let's Go Rangers!   Seems to be the sporting season, from the Superbowl, Basketball to Hockey!  This Tory Burch leather jacket can take me from the game to dinner.  LOVE this navy wrap and for $48 it’s a deal!

GB:  I adooore the opera, particularly anything Puccini.  We've been asked about appropriate opera attire quite a few times so it's a great one to review! Consider making an evening of it, from an early dinner to drinks post performance. Unless it's opening night, you'll see people in all sorts of get-ups including informal, black tie, heels, flats (I saw sneakers once), you name it.  We suggest going somewhere in between, like the outfit below, or even a simple black dress will do.  This is a special occasion that you should do at least once (even if you find it doze-worthy) so dress for it!

Acne Success Wool Blazer ($530), Kenneth Jay Lane Coin Earrings ($75), Adia Kibur Bangles ($24), Paul & Joe Reggio Silk Blend Jumpsuit ($415), Stuart Weitzman Saxony Pumps ($365), Tickets to the Metropolitan Opera, Express Beaded Clutch ($49.50), Adorama Opera Glass Binocular ($35.95)

LG: Heading downtown to a party at The Wooly tonight, which will entail lots of dancing.  I figure this Ashish sequined skirt might put me in the boogie mood and might even improve my moves!  LOVE these Prada earrings and Alexis Bittar bangle, I might even resemble my very own disco ball if I spin around enough.  Will treat and protect my feet with fancy Guiseppe Zanoti’s and foot cushions.  Hopefully I wont dance like “Le Freak” and “I Will Survive” till “The Last Dance”… Wow, “I’m So Excited!”
