What to Wear: Summer Wedding

Posted By: KK on 06/30/09 7:36 AM | Categories: What to Wear

Challenge:  GB and LG are heading to Newport, RI in July for a great friend’s
wedding.  The vibe is young, flawless LOVE.  The two words that came to
mind on opening the invitation were Soul Mate, yet in reality the
invitation read:
"Festive Attire."  How do we pick the right look to celebrate their love, make it
flawlessly from the church ceremony to a beachside reception, and impress our friends –  many of whom we haven't seen since we graduated?

What to Wear?  This calls for cavorting in conga-lines full of color with a romantic
floral theme.  Here are two blooming looks, which can take you from “I
do” to dinner to dancing.

Don’t forget to see our other great looks for summer nuptials on our Wedding and Cocktail pages for help with what to wear for all celebrations.

What to Wear: W2WW ♥ NEW YORK

Posted By: KK on 06/25/09 8:07 AM | Categories: What to Wear

In honor our favorite city’s 400th birthday, check out three of our coveted NYC canteens and what we would order to celebrate.  Not to mention, what to wear…

KK: For the crowd, the din, the ambience and the food, my first choice is always the classic bistro, La Goulue. The staff is wonderful and the chef is divine. He orders the steak frites, she the tuna tartar
then swipes his fries, the best in the city.  An aperitif, hand in hand on Madison, ahh l’amour.

GEORGIANA: Summer evenings out call for a pit stop at Pala – my absolutely favorite pizza (bufala cruda!) in New York.  The delicious dough is allowed to rise over 3 days so it's incredibly light and won't weigh you down so you can dance the night away without feeling like you've ingested the entirety of little Italy.

What I'd wear: I'd go with a short dress or romper, heels (obv.) and a fun blazer – a guaranteed good combo for any evening activity.

7 for All Mankind Alondra Clutch ($175), Nanette Lepore Optical Romper ($325), Theory Gratian Cropped Blazer ($355), Alexis Bittar Large Gold Bangle ($175) Sergio Rossi Heels ($584)

LARA: I simply relish summer dinners out back in Raoul’s garden.  I tend to feel like Alice in Through the Looking Glass as one has to step through the kitchen to get to this peaceful plot.  I tend to remain pretty uniform regarding my menu choice. To start, artichoke vinaigrette followed by a steak tartare.  All washed down with a bottle of rosé.  Je manqué Paris.

What I'd Wear:  This simple black tank dress can take me from blogging to bars.  I would throw on a Ric Owens-esque blazer (Topshop!) and funk it up with some tribal silver jewerlry.  Raoul’s is in cobbled Soho so I would prob sport some flat sandals.  Completing my look with a daring and Deco metallic clutch.  IM HUNGRY.

Torn by Ronny Kobo Joanna Tube Dress ($165), Topshop Jersey Waterfall Jacket ($90), Bernardo Mojo Sandal ($127), Fiona Paxton Lane Bib Bead Necklace ($398), Anya Hindmarch Marano Clutch ($230)

What to Wear: Summer Spectator Sports

Posted By: KK on 06/15/09 7:36 PM | Categories: What to Wear

Problem: Outdoor sports in the summer — often a client or charity
event, sometimes rainy and variable weather. How do I look together,
maintain a level of comfort AND prepare for rain or chill?
Solution: Whether
Wimbledon, Bethpage and anywhere in between, if you want to be
comfortable and smartly dressed for a traditional outdoor
sport event,  you can't go wrong with a simple sundress
in a light cotton or jersey. This spring try one in fun colors, an a-line shape for those
with curves, or even a maxi length for the younger set.
Don't forget a bright colored tote and a cardigan or a light rain jacket and you'll be keeping score!

Shoshanna Stretch Twill Dress at Saks, $350
We love the freshness of this summer dress, depending on the accessories, it can go from morning to night.

Sam Edelman Ianna Flats at Piperlime, $99
For walking the Fairway, we would go with this closed toe.

Feartherweight Cotton Green Cardigan at J. Crew, $59.50

 Jane Marvel Bag, $91.50
We love these lightweight bags they come in all size and patterns.

We're debating different Wimbledon looks on Thursday, so make sure you check back then!

What to Wear: Wimbledon!

Posted By: KK on 06/15/09 8:31 AM | Categories: What to Wear

What to wear?  What an appropriate question being that Wimbledon is just around the crumpet, June 22nd-July 5th.  As a typical British summer consists of varying tempertures reaching from high 70's to low 60's, it's important to prepare for lots of weather! W2WW Staple?  A lightweight trench.

KK: I like the
freshness of this green dress for Wimbledon and it can go off to dinner
and theater.  The Hunter’s are so great, I might wear them rain or
shine and throw my shoes in the bag or wear the flats and tote the
sandals.

Tory Burch Watch Band Bracelet ($195), Ellen Tracy Trench ($69.90), Shoshanna Tab Waist Dress ($210), Modo Monica Sunglasses ($285), Michael Kors Pebble Tote ($198), Hunter Rhys Boots ($127.95), Jimmy Choo Kel Slides ($565), Stuart Weizman Pixie Flats ($160)

GB and LG agree!  If the weather is sunny (jolly what luck!) why not celebrate with a
summery frock.  If not, cropped jeans or pants and a pretty top are perfect for rainy days.  Due to the fickle weather we suggest ballet flats instead of sandals which will keep your toes comfortable (and cool).

Alexander McQueen Ivory Feather Scarf ($237), Gryphon Trench ($495), Belfry Clyde Fedora ($28), Elie Tahari Lisa Dress ($368), CC Skye Cobra Bangles ($150), French Sole Zoe FlatsMichael Kors Beverly Bag ($368)
($130),

What to Wear: Would You Maxi?

Posted By: KK on 06/11/09 3:43 AM | Categories: What to Wear

Sure we'd all love to look like Angelina Jolie, floating around the globe in those billowy long dresses, but how does the style really fair on us mere mortals?  If you're not attending a black or white tie event, do you like maxi dresses in town or on the beach?  Follow our debate as we give you our favorite looks for day and evening wear and don't forget to tell us what you think.

KK: Who here remembers the 70’s – parts of it, like “granny dresses” as we called them,  I would like to forget.  Haight them.

GEORGIANA: I'm quite short, so have always avoided long dresses as they projected me into oompa loompa height realm.  As of late, however, I've changed my tune, particularly if you get the right look and shape (although I always have to wear with some sort of heel), they are the perfect summer staple.  Here are my picks for on the beach, in town and summer evenings.

On the Beach: Diane von Furstenberg Ganza Sunset Silk Chiffon Slip Dress, $360

Summer Evening: M Missoni Tulip Knit Maxi Dress, $445

On the Town: Helmut Lang Racer Back Jersey Dress, $230
Funnily enough, Lara and I picked the same dress to wear on the town – I'd definitely wear it with a light colored or brown belt to crop it a few inches.

LARA:  Being that I stride in a different stratosphere (I’m over
5’10”, yeah I know?!)  I have been having fun with the maxi-trend.
Scroll below to check out what I would wear to the beach and to a more formal summer fete.

On the Beach:  Bop Basics Smock Maxi Dress, $140
When I’m beach-bound I love that a maxi can take you straight from the sea to a restaurant.  I find myself packing them to most beach destinations as with the addition of a necklace and bangles can look great for a casual evening out.  This Bop Basics Smock Maxi dress has a hint of gold in the fabric and will look great in the sun!

Summer Evening:  ADAM Deep V Long Dress with Back Loop, $332.50 (was $475)
I find this ADAM Cerulean dress dead sexy.  I love the simplicity of the V-neck front juxtaposed with the plunging back.  The extra-long tie in the back allows for multiple styles.
