To Wear on The Plane

what to wear on a plane

I recently received request from a friend, “What to wear on the plane when you are traveling from a warm climate to a cold one, or visa versa?”   Ironically, I am on a plane while writing this from Palm Beach to New York City – love GoGo Inflight –    As a frequenter of back and forth flights, I have had an opportunity to delve into this subject and have formulated a plan.  When flying North to South, wear a knit top and a comfortable pair of black or neutral color pants, with tights or socks.  Then layer on  a cardigan, wrap, and puffer jacket.    When close to your destination, remove tights or socks and the the layers that are too warm, put them in your carry on tote, then deplane looking ready for the weather.  When traveling South to North, reverse the layers, starting out in pants and top and comfortable shoes with the sweater, wrap & tights in your tote, coat over your arm.  The nice thing about puffer coats and jackets is they scrunch up very small and make a great pillow on the plane.  And never travel anywhere without a cozy wrap.  It can be such a lifesaver for a drafty plane.  I have been know to put it over my head when I want to sleep or if a nearby passenger is coughing or sneezing.    J CREW has such a perfect collection of clothing that travel well, many of the prices are 40% off what is shown. Bon voyage!
