Is there anything more enchanting than The Fall Dance in the Temple of Dendur in the Sackler Wing at the Met? The charming Chairs, Mrs. Morgan A. Dejoux, Mrs. John A. Griffin, Mrs. Timothy P. O’Hara, Mrs. Thomas W. Purcell Jr., and Mrs. Eric R. Zintohofer have put together an exciting evening of celebration, combining festivities and philanthropy. The Women’s Board’s Fall Dance, held annually since the 1940s, is a major social event in New York City. In 1876, philanthropist and entrepreneur E.H. Harriman founded New York City’s first Boys’ Club to provide inner-city boys with a safe haven. Today in three clubhouses and a camp, BCNY provides high-quality programming to over 4,000 New York City boys. Over 75 percent of members live in households at or below the poverty level. With Oscar de la Renta, whose fashion epitomizes graceful and timeless elegance, as the generous fashion sponsor of The Fall Dance, it felt like magic to put together this Temple worthy ensemble. Imagine creating your own fashion history, gliding across the dance floor under the ancient shadow of the mystical stone structure from 15 BC, honoring the goddess Isis and her deified sons, Pedesi and Pihor. To channel our own inner goddess, we chose a breathtaking Tri-Color Silk Satin Gown, Golden Brocade Strappy Heels, symbolic gold Filigree Earrings and an ornamented Clutch, to create an enigmatic ensemble sure to make the Mummy’s dance all night!
